Our Harvest for the Hungry program focuses on purchasing fresh, mostly pesticide-free fruits and vegetables from local Minnesota and Wisconsin farmers. This produce is delivered to our partner food shelves and meal programs at no cost. It is then distributed to low-income Minnesotans who often cannot afford or lack access to fresh fruits and vegetables.
Without adequate funds, we would not be able to purchase produce from farmers and support our food shelves with quality fresh and local produce.
We know that our Harvest for the Hungry program is benefiting both farms and food
shelves. Here are testimonies from a farm and food shelf that share the impact of this program:
“Families express joy and appreciation when they receive fresh produce. The availability of healthy and nutritious fresh produce is essential to their livelihood.”-Food Shelf Partner
“Thank you so much for your work on this program. We’ve made a number of great connections with community members we normally wouldn’t run in to and it’s great to feel like we’re getting healthy food to those who need it most. -Farm Partner
